How do I correct the "Large Font" warning when QCS starts?

If you have you Windows environment set to show large fonts it may cause QCS to shift around the location of data entry controls in dialog boxes and as a result buttons may partially or totally disappear, text may appear "under" other controls and so on.

To return the font to its normal setting perform the following steps:

For Windows XP

  1. Go to a blank area on your desktop and right click on an empty area of your desktop. A popup menu will appear. Choose the menu option Properties. The Display Properties window will appear.
  2. Click the [Settings] tab.
  3. Click the [Advanced] button. This will display a window that will allow you to set options for your monitor.
  4. In the DPI Setting combobox select the Normal size (96 DPI) option.
  5. In the Compatibility group select the Apply the new display settings without restarting option.
  6. Click on the [OK] button. The Display Properties window will again appear.
  7. Click on the [OK] button in the Display Properties window. Windows will change its display settings to the new 96 DPI setting.
  8. Restart QCS if it is running or open it and login. You should no longer see the warning.

For Windows Vista or 7

  1. Go to a blank area on your desktop and right click on an empty area of your desktop. A popup menu will appear. Choose the menu option Personalize. The Personalization window will appear.
  2. In the lower left corner you will see the link Display. Click on the link.
  3. Click on the circle labeled Smaller - 100% (default). The dot will now appear in the circle.
  4. Click on the [Apply] button. Windows will then require that you log off for the settings to take effect. Please do so.
  5. Log back into Windows and start QCS. All of the buttons and controls will appear correctly.
